Animal Group Names

We put this under "branding articles" because I see the naming of animal groups quite fascinating and really at the core of a brand; its name. For awhile now I have been enamored with "a murder of crows," which is what you call the collective form instead of flock.

Animal Planet Rips Off Vigor's Mark Garrison Logo

I've heard that imitation is the highest form of flattery. If that's true, well then, we're flattered. However, in our industry, imitation is the highest from of derivation—and that translation: RIPOFF!

Recently we were flattered by Discovery Channel's new show "Groomer Has It" logo which bears a striking resemblance to a long-time client of ours, Mark Garrison's logo (which he's had for about five years now). You be the judge.

I hate dust jackets

I don't know when it started, but I have to say I hate dust jackets on hardcover books. There is something absolutely elegant about the actual book cover. It's simplicity and raw materials collide to form a tasteful piece that just gets totally blundered when the jacket is applied.

Tech Company Logo Evolutions

Companies usually skimp out on designing a logo at startup. There are a number of reasons the most common being capital concerns. We always preach that good design and innovation go hand in hand. Concurrently, good design should be at the root of an organization through it's products to it's identity. Design is a business practice, not just a service offered by studios the world over. But...i digress.
