Yo, Teach!
Our very own Joseph Szala has recently accepted an adjunct professorship with The Art Institute of York (AI) located in, yes, York, PA.
Joseph will be teaching an evening class on Introduction to User Interface Design during the spring semester.
Joseph, a graduate of the former Bradley Academy which was acquired and renamed The Art Institute of York accepted the position for a number of reasons.
"As a product of [this] school, it's one way I can give back, to show some appreciation for the training I received there that has been additive to making Vigor successful. In part, the school has enabled me to follow my dream of incorporating creative and art at the very core of my profession.
He added, "It's also an opportunity to influence and energize young graphics and interactive students who have a hunger to excel and ultimately join agencies like ours, to show them the things I've learned that I might have benefitted greatly from had I known them at their stage in the game but instead had to figure out the hard way sometimes."
Vigor regularly employs students from AI's programs and has taken interns from their programs in the past. To date, Vigor has worked with two full-time designers and one intern from AI. Vigor also regularly attends portfolio reviews at the school and speaks to students about branding and interactive work.
Joseph is the founder and a principal of Vigor with partner Jason Bowser who sits on Kaplan Institute's advisory board for graphic arts programs.
