Mark Garrison had been a celebrity stylist for years located in the prestigious Upper East side of Manhattan. Unfortunately his image didn't reflect his caliber of work, and it certainly did not personify the attention, skill, credibility and expertise his work represtented. He needed to look and feel like a big brand in order to continue to grow.
We started by building a new brand identity. We took his former varied color palette and updated it to a single color that reflected the cool, modern style of the uptown New York City salon, making the brand experience consistent—from inside the salon to its presence in a magazine ad.
We used industry-familiar imagery to immediately connect the name with the service. The clean, sleek execution of the typography and iconography make for an easily digestible brand mark and further solidify the modern style.
We set identity guidelines for MG and then set off redesigning anything his brand touched, from signage, anything printed and, of course, the MG Web site. We also came up with some new ways to get the brand out there. One, in particular, is a yearly press pass we design. We work with the Salon's PR company to get these passes into the hands of all the major style and fashion magazines to increase his buzz and coverage.
Since our beginning work with Mark in 2003, we've helped grow his brand year by year through many other media outlets. From his web site to referral boosting promotions.
